Chapada Sunset Explosion
Chapada Diamantina - Lencois, Brazil
Chapada Diamantina (Diamond Plateau) is an exceptionally beautiful national park near Lençois, Brazil. This photo was from the tail end of one of the best sunsets we saw on the trip. For a half hour, as the sun went down, Danielle and I ran back and forth on top of a rocky plateau (avoiding the cacti) to get shots of the vistas on either side. On this side the sun going down over the valley, and on the other, the fantastic orange and yellow glow the sun was creating on all of the faces of the plateau cliffs. Ultimately, I ended up favoring shots of the sun setting and can remember somewhat frantically switching between taking tripod shots of my wife Danielle and I with the vista in the background and HDR shots of the scene itself. It was one of those times where it would have been awesome to be able to be in two places at once - so much beauty to take in, and so much beauty to photograph! In the end what it ultimately means is that we will just have to go back to get some more pictures of the other side.
