The Clouds for No One
This was one of the best sunsets on our cruise, and it happened during one of our random days at sea somewhere several hundred miles off of the East Coast of the US. One of the things that struck me while we cruised down the coast and as I watched this incredible sunset is that we were the only ones who would ever see these clouds - except that our ship happened to be here at this time these were the clouds for no one. There is something about "Pointless" beauty that no one will ever admire that is striking to me - the flower deep in the rain forest that is never seen, it just is. There is something profoundly beautiful about that for me. Anyway I was glad that this time I got to be here to enjoy these clouds!
I didn't shoot with a tripod on the ship because the rocking of the boat makes it pointless, so this is a handheld HDR offering. I have found that the align feature in Photomatix and in Photoshop usually do a pretty good job of working the alignment out, though I do always use a tripod when I can!
